David Wilson Artist
My name is David Wilson. My wife, Suzi, and I live with our dogs in a small farmhouse in Saucier, Mississippi.
I grew up in New Orleans, and from the age of six, I was introduced to the beauty and wonder of the Louisiana and Mississippi bayous during our many fishing trips. I was instantly captivated. By age 14, I had my 12-foot pirogue and spent the next seven years exploring the marshes and bayous. I felt completely at home in that world, surrounded by alligators, majestic birds, and the quiet splendor of the wetlands. Those years left me with vivid memories and a deep, lasting joy that still stays with me today.
The next 26 years, I served as a Marine Corps Infantry Officer in every possible climate and place around the world, and yet none touched my heart like our local coastal areas.
My passion for woodworking evolved over the years. Now, yet again, working as a trauma therapist and court-appointed children’s advocate in the past 20 years, my joyful moments of the coastal marshes have evolved into an environmental carver.
I transform my experiences into unique, one-of-a-kind, designed, and executed carvings to share and perhaps make a smile or a fond memory. I also remind us that the Mississippi Gulf Coastal Waters are some of the most beautiful and majestic waters to be found anywhere in the world. I hope you will find them as enjoyable as the joy I get from creating and sharing them with you. My fondest memories are of all of God’s perfection and Majesty.
